The Conservatory, Baltimore Actors' Theatre, is Maryland's first and only accredited College Preparatory School of the Arts, for students from grades pre-one to 12. Established in 1979, The Conservatory has garnered a reputation for the excellence of its academic and arts curriculum. In 1999 and 2001, The Conservatory was named one of Baltimore's Best Elementary and Secondary Schools by Baltimore Magazine. A strong academic program is provided in the morning hours, followed by professional training in all three disciplines: music, drama and dance. Advanced placement courses are offered in English (American and British), biology, history (American and European), French, and music theory.
To date, over 60 students have graduated and entered prestigious colleges and universities of their choice, including New York University, Tisch School of the Arts, Syracuse University, Boston Conservatory, Boston University, North Carolina School of the Arts, Butler University, Point Park College, Immaculata College, Loyola-Marymount College. The Conservatory provides year-round performing opportunities for its students in both adult and children's theatre at The Oregon Ridge Dinner Theatre.
The Conservatory has been selected as a model college preparatory school for arts by the Maryland State Department of Education. It is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and is a member of The College Board. The Conservatory has an association with Trinity College, London which provides its students with graded examinations in speech and drama and music from initial through grade 8 and is recognized in over 40 countries worldwide. The Conservatory also offers Associate and Licentiate Diplomas through Trinity College, London in Speech & Drama, Music, and Musical Theatre. An ongoing Professional Development Division offers students training in music, drama, dance and musical theatre technique.

The Conservatory of Baltimore Actors’ Theatre, located in Baltimore, has been associated with the Trinity College of London since 1979 through the International Examinations Program. Our students who take both the written and practical exams in speech and drama, music and music theory are recognized in over 60 countries worldwide. The diploma examination provides an intense program for those who are interested in professional speech and drama, and music studies. This diploma, once achieved, sets the benchmark for professional competence in this field.
Bachelor of Arts Theatre Studies in association with Rose Bruford College
We’re also pleased to announce our association with Rose Bruford College, United Kingdom, to offer a distance learning of Bachelor of Arts degree for theatre studies. Started in 2006-2007 academic year, the program is ongoing and available for students at our conservatory. This program gives you an opportunity to earn a Bachelor’s degree with weekly seminars to support and enrich your learning experience. This program is challenging yet convenient since it allows you to have direct contact with the teachers at the same time do most of the work at home. Applicants who are 18 years and older may apply.
